LAHORE (Dunya News) - It is 15 years since the departure of eminent poet Muzaffar Warsi as his fans and lovers are observing his 15th death anniversary on Wednesday (today).

Be it hymns or Naats, Ghazals or songs, Muzaffar Warsi proved his talent in every genre of versifications.

Muzaffar Warsi, the creator of beautiful, soulful and memorable Naatiya and Hamdiya Kalam, was born on December 23, 1933 in Meerut. His real name was Muhammad Muzaffaruddin Siddiqui.

After the establishment of Pakistan, Muzaffar Warsi settled in Lahore and soon became one of the prominent poets.

The creation of timeless hymns and Naats has brought him great fame. His Naats include Yarahmat al-Lil-Aalamin, Laanbi Baad, Warfaanalika Dhikruk, To Kaja Min Kaja, and Hamd in Koui To Hay Jo Nizam Hasti Laying Lay.

In the past, the Pakistani film industry was also incomplete without Muzaffar Warsi. His popular songs for films gained immense popularity.

He won wide acclaim for lending his melodious voice to Na’ats many of which have become popular mobile ringtones.

One of the famous recitals over the years has been “Koi to hai jo nizam-e-hasti chala raha hai.”

In recognition of his artistic and literary contributions, Muzaffar Warsi was awarded Presidential Medal for Excellence. He was also awarded the titles of Fasih-ul-Hind and Sharaf-ul-Shu'ara. Muzaffar Warsi died in Lahore on January 28, 2011.
