LAHORE (Dunya News) – Twenty-six death anniversary of renowned playback singer Akhlaq Ahmad is being observed on Monday (today).

Born in 1940 in Delhi, he started his career as a singer in 1973 with film ‘Pazaib’.

He remained a popular playback singer in 1970s and 1980s.

“Sona Na Chandi Na Koi Mehal” in film Bandish, “Sawan Aye Sawan Jaye” in Chahat , “Ay Dil Apna Dard Chhupa ” in Rishta and Hum Ko Kis Ke Gham Ne Maara in Basera, were his super hit songs.

Akhlaq Ahmad sang nearly 117 songs in 86 films from 1973 to 1998.

Akhlaq Ahmed entered the world of showbiz at a time when it was very difficult for singers to make a place in the film world.

Akhlaq Ahmed achieved a distinct position with his melodious voice and tireless work. The song from the film "Bandish" brought Akhlaq Ahmed to the heights of fame.

Singer Akhlaq Ahmed worked as a playback singer for the Pakistani film industry and sang 177 songs for 86 films during his career. The last song sung by him was included in the film "Nikaah". Akhlaq Ahmed's songs are still very popular among the people. He was awarded the Nigar Award seven times.

Singer Akhlaq Ahmed passed away on August 4, 1999, due to cancer.
