Thousands of child musical prodigys in Venezuelas sprawling capital have taken to dozens of metro stations to ease commuters during their daily rush.In a rare popular initiative for President Hugo Chavezs socialist government, youth choirs, orchestras and symphonies have banded together to delight an estimated 2 million citizens accustomed to shoving and fighting their way onto packed trains.Organisers behind the event hope the childrens soothing sounds will inspire an appreciation of finer musical stylings in citizens and disenchanted youth in one of the Americas most dangerous cities.Showcasing the talents of children as young as eight, beleaguered Venezuelans concerned about the political and economic future of the Latin American nation are grateful for a respite in the negative news headlines that beam outside the country to the world.The event is part of week-long celebrations for the countrys inaugural Festival of Child Orchestras.
