KARACHI (Lubna Mumtaz) - The 8th death anniversary of legendary Qawwal and Naat Khawan Amjad Sabri is being observed on Saturday (today).

Born on 23 December 1976, he started performing on the stage with his father at the tender age of 12. 

Not only in Pakistan, he established the power of his voice abroad including the United Kingdom and United States.

He was the son of Ghulam Farid Sabri and nephew of Maqbool Ahmed Sabri of the Sabri Brothers. He established himself as one of South Asia’s most prominent qawwali singers.

Amjad Sabri’s most famous kalaam ‘Tajdar-e-Haram’ and ‘Bhar Do Jholi’ are still in the hearts of his fans.

He was awarded Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his meritorious services in the field of Sufi music.

Sabri was tragically shot on June 22, 2016, 16th of Ramazan.

Unidentified shooters opened fire near his home in Liaquatabad, Karachi. Sabri suffered several head injuries and died on June 22, 2016.
