Giant statues of Rapper Kid Cudi appeared in New York City, Los Angeles and Paris
(Web Desk) - Residents of New York City, Paris and Southern California have finally figured out why statues with eerie glowing eyes are gracing their skylines — and it's all to do with Kid Cudi's new music.
Over the past week, giant statues of the musician have appeared in New York City, Paris and off the coast of Long Beach, Calif, seemingly to celebrate the release of his new record INSANO.
The 33-foot statues show Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) with his arms outstretched as red and blue shine through his eyes and mouth, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Los Angeles-area residents first spotted the figure as it was shipped towards Long Beach via a barge in Alamitos Bay on Jan.
12. Later that day, Long Beach city officials confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that the statue was "a 33-foot statue of musical artist Kid Cudi."
"The artist is visiting #LongBeach today for a private promotional event at a local business & the statue is part of the event," they wrote, adding that anyone visiting local beaches can view the statue free of charge.
"The statue has left Alamitos Bay & remains on a barge just off the Long Beach coast where it is expected float up & down the Long Beach shoreline."
Meanwhile in Paris, the French outlet AFP reported that the French version of the statue was set to play music from his new album on Jan. 12.
