(Web Desk) The 81st Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday and usher in a months-long stretch of ceremonies, including the long-delayed Primetime Emmy Awards, another Taylor Swift domination tour aka the Grammys, a post-actors' strike SAG Awards, and a sure-to-be-competitive Academy Awards.

The Golden Globes are first up, and if you're wondering how to tune in, here's everything to know about this year's event.

Where to watch the Golden Globes

The 2024 Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS. It will also be available to stream simultaneously on Paramount+ with the Showtime plan.

The event will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

The show moved to CBS after its longtime network NBC declined to air the ceremony, following a series of controversies and declining ratings.

What to know about this year's Golden Globes

For the Globes, this 2024 ceremony marks a potential reset, as it's no longer voted on by the controversy-plagued Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which had been accused of lacking inclusion and self-dealing, among other ethical issues.

In 2023, the HFPA was disbanded, the Golden Globes Awards' assets were sold to Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions and split into a for-profit venture for the awards show and a nonprofit Golden Globes Foundation for philanthropic efforts.

After not airing in 2022 amid studio boycotts and airing one last time on its longtime broadcasting home NBC, the show is moving to CBS for 2024, after NBC declined to renew its contract with the Globes.

It's a new era for the Globes, but headwinds still remain.

The show's producers reportedly had trouble finding a host to emcee the event before comedian Jo Koy took the job.

Who is hosting the Globes?

The 2024 Golden Globes will be hosted by Jo Koy. The Haunted Mansion actor said of the news, "I've stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special.

I'm so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!"

Who are this year's Globes nominees?

The Golden Globes 2024 nominations were announced on Dec. 11 and included a handful of notable snubs and surprises.

However, the show, which celebrates both movies and television, also reflected the major trends of the year in entertainment, with Barbie and Oppenheimer leading the pack on the movies front and HBO's Succession dominating the TV nominations.

The show will have two new categories this year: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement (a category intended to recognize blockbuster movies) and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television.
