Dr Shafaq vows to win more laurels for Pakistan
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Dr Shafaq Akhtar, a new name in Pakistan's beauty pageant scene, has said that she is always committed to showcasing Pakistan on the global stage.
“Pageantry allows me to represent my country, connect with incredible women from around the world, and showcase the beauty and diversity of Pakistan. I am deeply grateful for the love and support I receive from my homeland,” said Dr Shafaq in a recent interview.
After passing on her Miss Pakistan Universal title in May 2023, Dr Shafaq Akhtar remains undeterred.
She is gearing up for more international pageants in 2023, including Miss Face of Humanity in Mexico and Freedom of the World in Kosovo.
Earlier, Dr Shafaq Akhtar's hard work bore fruit as she secured two significant titles for Pakistan - Miss Rixos Sungate in Miss Aura International held in Turkey and the title of Miss Humanity in Miss Planet, held in Cambodia.
These victories not only highlighted her commitment but also brought global pride to Pakistan. Dr Shafaq stands as an inspirational figure, demonstrating that love for one's country and unwavering determination can lead to remarkable global achievements. Her journey exemplifies that Pakistan can shine not only in pageantry but also in various other fields.
What sets Dr Shafaq apart is her resolute decision not to pursue a modeling career but to represent Pakistan on international platforms. She fearlessly participated in pageants such as Miss Aura International, Miss Planet, and Miss Elite, underscoring her unwavering dedication and determination.
Sonia Ahmed, the visionary behind Miss Pakistan, commended Dr Shafaq’s accomplishments, stating, “In just one year, she participated in three international pageants and is preparing for two more this year. Her unwavering dedication to promoting Pakistan globally is truly commendable. In just two years, she will have secured five international titles and one national title. Such dedication is genuinely impressive,” she added.
Dr Shafaq is a key part of the upcoming documentary titled "Pakistan's Minority Queen," directed by Sonia Ahmed.
This documentary, slated for release in 2024, offers an intimate portrayal of Dr Shafaq’s life as a Christian Pakistani in Lahore and her remarkable journey in the world of pageantry. She eagerly anticipates sharing her story through this documentary, affirming, "I am delighted to shed light on how pageant queens like myself work tirelessly for Pakistan, even when our efforts may not always receive due recognition.”
Hailing from a Christian family and having received her early education in Lahore, Dr Shafaq embarked on a distinct path that diverged from the conventional modeling route. In a momentous turn of events in 2022, she achieved an extraordinary feat by clinching the coveted title of Miss Pakistan Universal, thereby etching her name in history as the first Christian woman and doctor to attain this prestigious accolade.
