Idiot will air on Green Entertainment.

LAHORE (WEB Desk) – An upcoming drama Idiot starring Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha is coming our ways that is entirely in synchronisation with all the rebels who refuse to accept the world for what it is and strive for aligning it with the vision they have for it.

Green Entertainment on Wednesday, shared the trailer captioning “To all the social misfits and rebels who question dysfunctional man-made norms of society, all the wanderers embarked on a journey of self-discovery, searching for the greater purpose of existence.”

The trailer begins with a seemingly meditating Akbar while in the background the narrator reads, “Who are you? Those who don’t know themselves, spend their lives in perplexity.” The scene switches to a younger Akbar who runs to a man tending to goats and says, “Uncle, can I ask you a question? Do you offer goats as sacrifice for God or for people?” then he gets scolded by his father for asking such questions from elders instead of “respecting” them. The camera is back on adult Akbar whose face is now covered with bruises.

After that, we see Pasha running towards an edge overlooking water while Akbar remarks aloud, “The courage needed for suicide outweighs the courage needed to solve life’s problems by far.” Ahmed’s empathetic nature comes to the fore when he brings home a dog he found to care for and in another scenario, steps in front of a tree to prevent some men from chopping it down.

Despite being a kind soul, he continues a difficult life and persistently gets into conflicts when he raises his voice against something unjust. Even his love life experiences quiver when there’s discord in personal ideology, one example is him freeing birds from cages his partner loves so much. He doesn’t have anything easy professionally either as he has been fired from 25 jobs.

Akbar’s character is a free soul who wishes to set free any being he comes across that is suffering, be it humans, plants or animals. He is an outcast and he knows it and the world frequently reminds him. He is misunderstood by his parent figure, he is castigated by people around for being himself, kidnapped and threatened. They call him mentally unfit, they call him an idiot.

Directed by Anjum Shahzad, Idiot has been written by Kifayat Rodani and it will air on Green Entertainment which will run its test transmission in the coming month.
