Whether it is to impress at work, make a splash at an evening cocktail party or take in a sensual tango show, to truly impress in fashion forward Buenos Aires there is no better place to look than Buenos Aires Alta Moda, or BAAM.The 35th biannual BAAM has featured some of Argentinas most celebrated designers and top models in inspiring shows at the countrys most prestigious Fashion Week event.Calandra designer Teresa Calandra injected her arousing touch into Monday (September 5) nights show with the labels latest collection of evening wear for cosmopolitan women.It is a collection aimed at women between 30 and 35-years-old and up. It has something to do with the length of the skirt. The idea is that is a cosmopolitan collection, for a woman who works. You have to dress a woman from morning to night. And it has to be sexy, sensual and glamorous but still active and young. What is most important to us is that it be young, Calandra said.The designers were not the only ones feeling the pressure of the night but also the models who were primed and prepped backstage ahead of hit the catwalk as Argentinas most prominent celebrities and socialites looked on.Designer Gabriel Lage highlighted the versatility of her designs.It is a collection to let Argentine women go back and use the dress that she used on an important night [again]. The idea is that it be versatile; [you can] use varying accessories and bring it down and use it at a cocktail party. The idea of high end in the world is of something truly high end and [at the same time] down to earth and not so diva on the runway, Lage said.Tuesdays closing event will feature up and coming designers competing in the Me the Young Fashion Designer contest where four winners will be selected for different internships and a trip to Fashion Week in Paris.Buenos Aires fashion week has become a fixture in Argentine fashion and is considered one of the highlight of Latin Americas fashion circuit.
