Titanic director explains why Jack had to die

LAHORE (Web Desk) – If you’re a fan of 1997’s blockbuster movie “Titanic”, you must have given it a thought once that why Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Jack had to die in the end when the ship sunk.

The director of the film James Cameron has (seemingly) finally put the matter to bed - he is insistent it would not have been possible for them both to survive.

Cameron said in an interview, “We have done a scientific study to put this whole thing to rest and drive a stake through its heart once and for all.”

"We have since done a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the raft from the movie and we’re going to do a little special on it that comes out in February,” he added.

He continued, “We took two stunt people who were the same body mass of Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over them and inside them and we put them in ice water and we tested to see whether they could have survived through a variety of methods and the answer was, there was no way they both could have survived. Only one could survive.”

Asked whether he wished he had given Jack a happy ending, Cameron said, “No, he needed to die. It’s like Romeo and Juliet. It’s a movie about love and sacrifice and mortality. The love is measured by the sacrifice.”

It was announced earlier this year that Titanic would return to cinemas in 2023, with a remastered version of the film being released to celebrate the film s 25th anniversary.
