Memorabilia of Bruce Lee put for auction in Hong Kong
The auction was the largest to date of Lee memorabilia in Hong Kong with 13 items.
Over 1.7 million Hong Kong dollars ($220,00 USD) of Bruce Lee merchandise on Saturday (August 6) went under the hammer in the birthplace of the Kung Fu legend.Fetching the highest price at nearly $600,00HKD ($76,850 USD) was a fur-lined coat made for the unfinished film Game of Death, and was worn by Lee just before his death in 1973 due to a reaction to medication. The winning bidder, Greg Manning from New Jersey, said that buying the coat was simply a way to show his respect to the late legend.I think Bruce Lee is worldwide recognised as one of the most important people in the martial arts field. He really pioneered the film genre and we respect him as a human being and a person for his work and his art and for what he did, he said after winning the coat.The last known auction of Lee items was held in Los Angeles in 1993 when his widow, Linda Lee, auctioned off 200 items.
