The iconoclastic redhead designer Vivienne Westwood staged a catwalk show in Paris that was filled with theatricality, punk attitude and sparkles.

Models presented dresses bedecked with blinding gold and silver paillettes with matching sequined boots, pumps and stacked oxfords on a glittering gold runway. Also present in Westwoods womens ready-to-wear Autumn/Winter 2011/12 collection were her signature flashes of tartan and romantic tailoring, along with an array of dramatic floor-length gowns with highly stylized corsetery, vivid patterns and exaggerated volumes. The theme of Westwoods collection was the World Wide Woman, which in the designers own words, represents a strong-minded and brave female that has cultivated her values for the sake of our planet and is powerful enough to stand up to man and combat his destructive ways. To convey this theme, the makeup for the show was gothic, with models faces rendered ghostly white and their eyes and lips painted black.Show invitees also received recyclable plastic water bottles, which Westwood hoped would encourage planet-friendly behavior and incite a conversation on climate change.
