Kajol was born on August 5, 1974 and started her career at the age of 16.

Director Rahul Rawail of Arjun fame cast Kajol in his film Bekhudi. Subsequently, Kajol bagged her second lead role opposite Shahrukh Khan in Baazigar.After Baazigar, Kajol quit studies, as she thought acting was more interesting. Kajol then went on to work with SRK in movies like Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name is Khan. She has worked in more than 35 Hindi films and has bagged six Filmfare awards, the highest by any female actor in the industry. In 2011, the government of India honoured Kajol with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour in the country, for her contribution to Indian cinema.
