Rihanna walks blue carpet in LA, only days after being hospitalized for dehydration.
Global pop star Rihanna premiered her film Battleship Thursday (May 10), to throngs of fans who came out to cheer the hip-hop / R&B singer on her first acting role.Rihanna was joined by co-stars Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgard, and supermodel Molly Sims at the red carpet event, held at the LA Live complex in downtown Los Angeles.Very big, very big, its a big deal, it would have been a big deal no matter what, but to have it be a film of this magnitude, its scary and exciting all at once. Its a thrill, says the five-time Grammy award winner, about her first big film premiere.Im excited about this, she adds, Im nervous, but my familys here, my brothers, everyone, and they love movies like this so I think it will be fun.Battleship is a $200 million, action packed summer blockbuster based on the Hasbro board game of the same name where international naval fleets are forced into war against alien intruders. Rihanna plays a daredevil naval officer in the film, and worked with members of the U.S. Navy for research. It was an honor, it was a real honor, says Rihanna, on working with members of the U.S. Navy for the film. I really appreciated the fact that they were there, because someone like me, you want to get it right, but you dont want to get it right only to Hollywood standards, the Navys real. Its serious, and you want to respect them in every way and do them proud, and Peter Berg was very, very adamant about that, which we were all appreciative of. It was a great experience, and we worked with a lot of old vets, old salts whove been on those ships, so that was cool, we asked them a lot of questions, and they had tons of stories.Rihanna attended the premiere despite having been hospitalized for exhaustion and dehydration earlier in the week. She was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Monday (May 07) night in New York after attending at the annual Met Costume Gala.Battleship, directed by Peter Berg, will hit theaters across the world on May 18, 2012.
