LAHORE (Web Desk) - The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a student in Punjab for allegedly seeking guidance from artificial intelligence on how to prepare poison, officials said.
According to the NCCIA Punjab, the suspect was arrested during an operation in Bahawalpur after investigators uncovered a laboratory allegedly set up at his home.
The student is accused of attempting to poison his father.
Investigators said the suspect, who was reportedly influenced by crime dramas, had obtained chemical materials from Australia and Islamabad and used them to prepare poison at home.

The investigation further revealed that after an initial attempt to poison his father failed, the suspect allegedly sought additional guidance from an artificial intelligence system on how to prepare the substance.
The arrest followed intelligence received from abroad, prompting the NCCIA director to order an investigation and subsequent action against the suspect.
Officials said the case highlights emerging concerns over the potential misuse of artificial intelligence, particularly in obtaining information related to harmful activities.
It has also raised questions about the online activities of young people and the challenges faced by authorities in monitoring the misuse of emerging technologies.
