SAHIWAL (Dunya News) - The FIA arrested five policemen over charges of torture and custodial death of a man here on Wednesday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, Sahiwal Circle FIA in a raid arrested five nominated officials of Okara Punjab.
The spokesperson said the FIA acting under FIR No. 07/2026, arrested Nazar Abbas, SI, Azmat Ali, SHO/SI, Rai Manzoor, SI, Saifullah Moharrar and Irfan Ali, ASI.
The case has been registered under sections 302, 34, 109 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 9 of the Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Act, 2022.
During the FIA's inquiry, significant evidence emerged regarding the alleged torture of a detainee, death in custody, and alleged concealment or destruction of evidence, on the basis of which legal action was taken against the suspects.
The spokesperson added the suspects were in FIA custody and further investigation was underway.
