KARACHI (Dunya News) -  Sindh Rangers and SIU police carried out a joint operation against extortionists in Old Golimar, arresting four suspects after an exchange of fire.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspects opened fire on law enforcement personnel during the operation.

In retaliatory action, Rashid alias Chachu and Abdul Haq alias Doctor were arrested in injured condition, while Waleed alias Dada and Moiz alias Alert Bacha were apprehended without resistance.

Weapons and a large quantity of narcotics were recovered from the arrested suspects.

Rashid alias Chachu and Abdul Haq alias Doctor were identified as members of an extortion mafia, while their links were traced to the Jameel Chhanga and Abdul Samad Kathiawari groups.

The spokesperson further revealed that Waleed alias Dada is associated with a Lyari-based drug trafficking network linked to extortion groups led by Riaz alias Sheena and Zahid Ladla.

Moiz alias Alert Bacha was found connected to Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu’s group.

Investigations showed the suspects provided information about private builders and businesspersons to extortion ring leaders, who later issued threats to collect protection money.

The suspects were also involved in aerial firing to spread fear in the area.

Rashid alias Chachu and Abdul Haq alias Doctor are habitual offenders with previous jail records.

Raids are underway to arrest their remaining accomplices.

The arrested suspects, along with recovered weapons and drugs, were handed over to police for further legal action.
