PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Police claimed on Monday to have foiled an attempt by terrorists to attack a police station and its check post near Juma Khan Khor, Dunya News reported.

According to SSP Kashif Aftab Abbasi, police with the help of thermal weapons installed on the border of Peshawar and tribal district Khyber controlled the movement of the terrorists who were searching for positions to attack the police station.

Eight to 10 armed extremists wanted to target the police station, but timely and effective response by police thwarted their attack, the SSP said, adding the terrorists fled under the cover of darkness.

Police were put on a high alert after the incident. A search operation had been launched to arrest the fleeing terrorists.

With enhanced security and state-of-the-art thermal weapons, perpetrators could not succeed in their nefarious designs.
