Karachi DSP arrested in connection with expat's murder

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was arrested on Thursday night for his alleged role in the murder of an expatriate. The controversial murder has been making round on social and main stream media.

In the latest development regarding controversy surrounding the murder of Hashim in Manghopir Karachi, Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) DSP Qamaruz Zaman was taken into custody whose official car was used for fake checkpost. The victim was allegedly signalled to stop, however the policemen opened fire on him.

The firing left Hashim dead whereas the person accompanying him was also injured. Reportedly, the DSP was present at the scene along with three other men, including two policemen and a private person.

Initial investigation indicated that the shots were fired from the DSP's weapon as the round in his possession were short. But, later it is being suspected that ASI Mukhtar opened the fire instead. The two other suspects have been identified as Amir and Asif.

Police claimed that shells of 9mm bullets had been found from the scene. However, further investigation are expected to dispel the suspicion and reveal the truth behind the murder.
