Policeman martyred by unknown assailants in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A police officer in the federal capital was martyred in an armed attack by unidentified individuals late on Wednesday.
Islamabad Police said that constable identified as Ansar Mahmood was martyred in firing by unknown culprits on the IJP Road. Officials further informed that the martyred police officer was stationed at the Police Headquarters.
Police authorities stated that the body of the martyred officer was shifted to the PIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination, while a search operation has been initiated in the area to apprehend the culprits who fled after the firing.
Meanwhile, Inspector General (IG) of the Islamabad Police, Dr Akbar Nasir Khan has constituted a special investigative team to investigate the incident and directed the team to conduct a thorough examination of every aspect of the case.

The IG stated that the perpetrators involved in the incident should be arrested and brought to justice.
