Several human traffickers arrested as FIA intensifies operation

The accused had given fake visas to the deported passengers

KARACHI (Web Desk) - The anti-human trafficking circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested several suspects in a crackdown against the human traffickers across the country.

FIA officials said Ghulam Abbas was arrested from a local hotel near Cantt Karachi Station during an operation. The accused was involved in minting money from the innocent people in the name of sending them abroad.

In another operation, Tahir Mehmood was taken into custody from Agra Taj Colony. The accused was pointed out by those people who got deported from foreign countries.

Whereas, six other were arrested in an operation spree spanning over Kallar Syedan, Jhang, Peshawar and their vicinities. The suspects under custody have been identified as Junaid Mehmood, Muhammad Yousaf, Tanveer Ahmad, Muhammad Aslam, Haider Ali and Duran Khan.  

According to the FIA officials, the accused were involved in trafikking of humans from Pakistan-Libya-Greece and had given fake visas to the deported passengers while raids are being conducted to arrest their other accomplices. The suspects were also involved in sending the illegal migrants that died in Greece recently. 

It merits mention here that the agency has intensified its operations against the traffickers across the country after the migrants’ boat tragedy in Greece.
