Punjab CTD arrests four 'terrorists' of banned outfit

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Wednesday arrested four alleged terrorists of a banned militant outfit during multiple actions.

According to a spokesman, the CTD conducted 27 Intelligence-based Operations (IBOs) in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism.

The law enforcement agency interrogated 27 suspected persons while four alleged terrorists were arrested. A large quantity of weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials were recovered from the terrorists.

All the arrested terrorists are TTP members. They are Abdul Ghafoor, Zubair, Zahid Ali and Naimat Ullah are included.

The spokesman said that 1,799 gram explosives, one IED bomb, six detonators, six feet safety fuse wire, four prohibited books of banned literature, four stickers, one mobile phone and some cash have been recovered from the suspects.

He said the terrorists had planned to target important installations and other religious places across the province. Officials registered four cases against the arrested alleged terrorists in Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura while shifting them to an unknown location.

The spokesman further said as many 166 combing operations were conducted during this week with the help of local police and security agencies. As many as 8,218 persons were interrogated, 22 suspects were arrested, 21 FIRs were registered and 15 recoveries were made.
