KARACHI (Dunya News) - The city police claim to have arrested 3,000 suspects and recovered 556 illegal arms and weapons from them during the holy month of Ramazan.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam shared monthly report of police performance, saying a trend of targeting religious scholars to incite the general public was observed in Karachi.
The targeted murders were also aided by third party agencies including a neighbouring country, he added. The AIG said three murderers involved in the killings of three eminent scholars in Karachi have been arrested.
Moreover, the police officer added during the holy month of Ramazan the police arrested nine murder suspects, 172 suspects allegedly involved in street crimes. Police also arrested 41 members of 13 gangs involved in motorcycle and car lifting.
Cumulatively, the police have arrested 3000 suspects in Ramazan and also recovered 556 weapons during the operations.
