Farishta murder case: Police officials arrested, case registered for negligence
The family registered a missing persons report on May 16, and an FIR was registered four days later.
ISLAMABD (Dunya News) – Police have arrested the SHO and investigation officer who refused to register FIR of case where a minor girl, Farishta was abducted, allegedly raped and then murdered in Islamabad.
Ghulam Nabi, the victim s father, registered a first information report at the Shahzad Town police station today, after incident was reported on media, under Section 166 (public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury to any person) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Nabi stated in the FIR that the victim s family had approached police a number of times for help finding Farishta, and to register an FIR against her disappearance, but instead of searching for the missing girl, the SHO told them she must have run away with someone.
Nabi alleged that instead of registering an FIR, police officials provided explanations and made the family members clean the police station. The father called for action to be taken against the SHO and other officials involved on grounds of negligence.
The family registered a missing persons report on May 16, and an FIR was registered four days later on May 19 after the intervention of an MNA, who took up the case with Islamabad Inspector General of Police Mohammad Aamir Zulfikar Khan.
IG police visited the grieved family and assured full support of police in this case.
On the other hand Senator Sherry Rehman and JI chief Siraj ul Haq met the victim’s family and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Sherry Rehman said is this Naya Pakistan. She said such tragic incidents could never happen in State of Madina.
JI chief said the incident that occurred with 10-year-old Farishta is shameful. No one took action over the occurrence including Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the tragic incident in federal capital and ordered direct action in Farishta s case.
The PM suspending Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abid and placed Superintendent of Police (SP) Umar Khan as officer on special duty (OSD).
The premier has also sought an explanation from inspector general (IG) Islamabad and deputy inspector general (DIG) Operations over police negligence.
