Gone in 1620 seconds: Robbers looted Rs17 mln from Karachi's eight banks in 2017

The first bank robbery of 2017 was recorded on Jan-29.

KARACHI (Dunya News)- At least eight hapless private banks in Karachi had forlorn state of affairs in 2017 as robbers looted whooping Rs17 million from them in just 27 minutes or 1620 seconds.

As per details, the first bank robbery of 2017 was recorded on Jan-29 in which devious robbers managed to loot Rs2 million in just five minutes or 300 seconds.

Two banks situated in North-Karachi and Maripur were deprived of collective sum of Rs10.6 million on 10th and 16th of May respectively. The robberies lasted for four minutes and three minutes respectively. On July-21, another hapless bank fell prey to vicious circle of robberies in the metropolis as robbers took away with them Rs3 million from the bank situated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

Robberies garnered pace in month of August when bank’s staffers took away with them Rs6.5 lacs in Kharadar area. On Aug-8, robbers entered branch of a private bank situated in Shahrah-e-Quaideen and took away with them a mammoth sum of money. Haplessly, merciless criminals killed bank manager during the criminal act.

On the very next day (Aug-9), robbers efficaciously escaped along with Rs2 lac in yet another bank robbery.

It is pertinent to mention that two groups involved in four bank robberies are still at large.
