Census 2017: Man arrested for becoming enraged over asking women's names

RAHIM YAR KHAN (Daily Dunya) – Police officers on Thursday arrested a man for becoming furious over census team for asking the names of females in Rahim Yar Khan.

Sources told that census team arrived at Chak NP-85 when railway colony resident Sarfraz Ahmed became enraged and refused to file names of the females.

Getting information about the incident, police reached the scene and detained the man whereas a case has also been lodged against him by Sub-Inspector Bashir Ahmed.

On April 25, the second and final phase of sixth national housing and population census was begun in 87 districts across the country.

In this phase, census will be conducted in twenty one districts in Punjab and Sindh each, twelve in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six Agencies of FATA, seventeen in Balochistan, five each in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and 4509 blocks in Rawalpindi.

The census will be continued till May 24.

As many as 652 teams were formed whereas police, Levies, Frontier Corps (FC) and Pakistan Army personnel were deployed with each team in order to ensure strict security arrangements.

The first phase of the census in 63 districts, started on March15, was ended on April 20 after Pakistan Bureau of Statistics extended the date from April 14.
