LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Super League has created fresh history with a landmark surge in the value of its international media rights, recording a 149 percent increase compared to last year.

The latest deal highlights the league’s expanding global footprint and rising commercial appeal in the international cricket market. The one-year global media rights, excluding the India region, have been awarded to Walee Technologies, which submitted a bid exceeding the reserve price set by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The sharp rise in valuation is being viewed as a clear reflection of the PSL’s growing popularity, competitive cricket standards, and strengthened brand value worldwide.

PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer said the league continues to consolidate its position among the world’s leading T20 competitions. He described the 149% increase in international media rights as a strong endorsement of global confidence in the PSL, adding that the league’s consistently high-quality and competitive cricket has captured the attention of fans across multiple markets. Naseer noted that the new agreement further reinforces confidence in the league’s long-term business growth. He praised Walee Technologies for placing a record-breaking bid and credited the significant rise in rights value to the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved in the league’s development.

Since its launch in 2016, the PSL has seen steady growth in media rights and sponsorship revenues. Franchise owners, players, and commercial partners have played a central role in transforming the tournament into a recognised global sports brand, with the PSL now regarded as Pakistan’s largest sports property. As part of its international expansion strategy, the league’s broadcast reach has been widened further, ensuring PSL matches are accessible to a broader global audience than ever before.

Walee Technologies CEO Muhammad Ahsan Tahir termed the deal a victory for Pakistan-made technology, saying it reflects trust in local innovation, and confirmed that the company has extensive plans lined up for the PSL.
