LONDON (Dunya News) – The first T20I of the four-match series between Pakistan and England was called off due to rain in Leeds as the Headingley Cricket Ground was full of rainwater.

According to Pakistan Standard Time, the match was scheduled to start at 10:30pm at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.

The series is crucial for both heavyweights in the shortest form of cricket as they gear up for the upcoming World Cup set to take place next month in the United States and the West Indies.

Babar Azam will lead the Green Shirts while the English team will be captained by Jos Buttler.

The men’s national selection committee has recalled fast bowler Haris Rauf, along with all-rounders Hasan Ali and Salman Ali Agha, in the 18-player squad for the England series.

The two cricketers who did not make the cut from the original 17-player squad that faced New Zealand are wrist spinner Usama Mir and fast bowler Zaman Khan.

The record

The T20 format tilts heavily in favour of England. Both the teams have faced each other 29 times, and the English team won 19 matches while the green shirts have nine victories to its credit. One match ended without result.

Pakistan played 12 T20 matches in England and won only four. Both the teams faced each other 10 times at neutral venue and England was successful eight times, while Pakistan could win only two.
