One of the Pakistan cricketers, Muhammad Amir, given a custodial sentence for match-fixing has been given the go-ahead to challenge his sentence.The teenaged fast bowler Mohammad Amir was sentenced to six months for bowling no-balls at prearranged times during the 2010 Lord’s Test between Pakistan and England, to fix spot-betting markets.A judge at the court of appeal in London refused Amir bail but granted him permission to appeal against his sentence. Mrs Justice Thirlwall directed that the appeal should be heard before 29 November.Salman Butt, the former Pakistan captain who was sentenced to 30 months’ detention, is also seeking to appeal. It is expected that Amir and Butt’s cases will be heard together.
