LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, chairman Zaka Ashraf expressing his confidence said the team would stage comeback in the ICC World Cup 2023 as the players are in the process of adapting.
Talking to a local news channel, he said that Mickey Arthur and his team had been hired before he assumed the charge of his office. It will spoil the reputation of the board if we ignore the commitments with the foreign coaches, he added. Arthur promised that he would be with the team for entire World Cup and Australia tour.
Regarding changes in the team after the World Cup, he said performance of players would be reviewed for further action. Babar Azam, Rizwan and Shaheen are top players and serving Pakistan. He said due to the league cricket, international teams have faced difficulties and the board offered more money to players so that they would only prefer Pakistan team.
“I did not decide the categories of the central contract, decisions of cricket are made by cricketers, if injustice is done to Sarfraz or any other player, then it would be resolved,” the board committee chairman added.
He categorically mentioned that player has to perform to stay in the A category, otherwise he will be reverted to category B.
The PCB committee chairman said that Pakistan and India are two big cricket players and match between these teams dubbed as a highly charged bout.
Regarding his relation with former skipper, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Zaka Ashraf said he has a mutual respect relationship with him. He said the board had contacted the renowned cricketers who demanded Rs 4 to Rs 5 million to work for the board, however, board refused.
