KANDY (Dunya News) – Charith Asalanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama’s fifties helped Sri Lanka to bag a convincing win over Bangladesh in second game of the Asia Cup 2023 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

The co-hosts of the event surpassed the target of 165 runs in 39 overs as visitors struggled to restrict the score in front of the middle order pair.

Sri Lanka faced early losses of first three wickets, however, Asalanka, Samarawickrama built a strong partnership to guide the team to win.

Earlier, Bangladesh opted to bat first and set a 165-run target for Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan bowlers showed impressive performance, restricting the opponent team from building a strong total.

Bangali batter Najamul Hossain Shanto tried to give a push to score with 89 runs after the opening pair failed to took an strong start.

However, he was dismissed by Theekshana, a moment that rebuild pressure on Bangladesh as after his removal no player could score above 20-run mark.
