Pakistan's recent performance lacks lustre for cricket fans

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Stadium was empty in the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi despite the rates of the tickets were very cheap and free passes were issued to students to watch the match.

Pakistan’s recent performance in the Test series against New Zealand and England is also one of the reasons that fans have been disheartened and due to which lesser amount of fans reached the stadium.

At the beginning of the match, the number of spectators was not more than 3,000, but as the evening progressed, the number increased to around 10,000. Free passes were issued by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to students of educational institutions around the stadium, special children and individuals also got passes.

The spectators who went to the stadium in the evening had brought warm clothes with them. Strict security arrangements were made as usual on the occasion of the match. The spectators complained about the lack of facilities on the way to the stadium.

The spectators also turned on the flashlights of their mobile phones to support the team while a few were saying the rates of the tickets are still high.

Meanwhile, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori also came to watch the match.

Pakistan beat New Zealand by six wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series. Pakistan is leading the series by 1-0. Second and third matches will be played on Jan 11 and 13.
