Asad Shafiq shines as Karachi Whites defeat Islamabad by 19 runs
Lahore Blues and Karachi Whites won their matches during day 10 of National T20 Cup
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Karachi Whites defeated Islamabad by 19 runs while Lahore Blues clinched victory over FATA by 19 runs during 10th day of the National T20 Cup at Rawalpindi’s cricket stadium.
In the first encounter, Islamabad’s captain Zohaib Ahmed won the toss and invited Karachi Whites to bat first who were all out for 148 runs after 19 overs. Asad Shafiq top-scored with 45 runs while skipper Sarfraz Ahmed could only manage 28 runs. Mohammad Irfan and Umar Gul picked up three wickets each while both Adil Amin and Raza Hassan claimed one wicket to their names.
In reply, Islamabad lost the match by 19 runs as they lacked hard hitters. They played 20 overs to score only 129 runs while losing five wickets. Asad Shafiq was named man of the match.
The second match was played between FATA and Lahore Blues in which FATA invited Lahore to bat first. Lahore scored 177 in there batting with Hussain Talat and Muhammad Hafeez scoring 68 and 31 runs, respectively. FATA couldn’t match the score finished on 158/7.
Sohail Akhtar from FATA top-scored with an unbeaten 74 to his name. Aizaz Cheema picked up three wickets and shared the man of the match title with Hussain Talat.
Tomorrow will be the 11th day of National T20 Cup in which the first match is between Lahore Whites and Peshawar Region while the second match is between Rawalpindi and Faisalabad teams.
