Karachi: ICC Champions Trophy reaches Edhi Home on its Pakistan tour
The trophy was presented at Edhi Home to honor the services of late Abdul Sattar Edhi.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy arrived at Karachi’s Edhi Home on Thursday on its three-day Pakistan tour, reported Dunya News.
According to details, the trophy was presented at Edhi Home to honor the services of late Abdul Sattar Edhi.
Star all-rounder Shahid Afridi participated in the ceremony in presence of Abdul Sattar Edhi’s wife Bilquis Edhi and son Faisal Edhi along with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.
Shahid Afridi talked to media afterwards and praised Abdul Sattar Edhi’s work. He expressed his joy on visiting Edhi Home and said the services for humanity that were started by him should not stop.
Shahid Afridi also spoke about cricket and said international cricket can be brought back to Pakistan through Pakistan Super League (PSL). He said that leaving Peshawar Zalmi was his personal matter.
Talking about series with India, he added that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has no problem playing a series against Pakistan, it is in fact the Indian government who is creating obstacles in cricket between both countries.
After Pakistan’s tour, ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to visit South Africa, New Zealand and Australia before finally arriving in United Kingdom who will host the event.
ICC had announced to launch the global tour of Champions Trophy to 19 cities of eight participant countries back in February, and the trophy has already visited India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
