Batsmen will have to gear up with the ICC proposed helmets

DUBAI (Dunya News) - The International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced new helmet regulations on Sunday for highest level of safety for batsmen in cricket for both men and women. The regulations restrict the batsmen to wear a particular kind of helmet that has passed all safety standards.

Previously, regulations were enforced by ICC on January 1 after which it has reviewed the helmet safety policy again. The new rule says that batsmen can only wear the helmet of British Standard BS7928:2013. It will become mandatory from February 1, 2017.

According to new rules, it will be up to the batsmen whether they want to wear the helmet or not. But if they do decide to wear helmet, they will have to gear up with the ICC proposed helmets for safety concerns.

It must be noted that any batsman who wear a non-compliant helmet will be fined and sanctioned. Players can be suspended for one or more matches after being issued official warnings whenever the helmet is worn out or of old-styled.

These regulations were first proposed earlier in June during 2016. ICC General Manager Cricket Geoff Allardice aims to make players wear the safest helmets that are available.
