"Players fully cooperated in WT20 while team meetings were not held without me", said Afridi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi on Thursday recorded his statement to fact-finding committee over Pakistan’s defeats in World Twenty20 via telephone.

Sources told that Afridi was unable to present before the investigating committee due to his daughter’s illness but the skipper recorded his stance via telephone.

The captain admitted poor performance in WT20 and Asia Cup.

“Players fully cooperated in WT20 while team meetings were not held without me”, said Afridi.

He said that selecting four fast bowlers against India in the tournament was totally his decision and former captain and chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had nothing to do with it.

The committee asked the skipper how he will grade his captaincy. The player ranked himself three out of ten and apologized for the abject display.

During the talk, he also defended Umar Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad.

Moreover, the committee will take final decision after hearing the point of views of every responsible person.

Earlier, in a video statement issued on a social media website, Afridi stated that he was sorry that the team’s performance was not up to par with the public’s expectations.

Afridi stated that he had been playing for Pakistan for the past 20 years and went down to play in the field with emotions that mirrored those of the entire nation.
