LAHORE (Dunya News) – National wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has slammed Selection Committee and team management for dropping his younger brother Umar Akmal for the tour of Bangladesh.

The test cricketer said that Umar Akmal has been made the scapegoat for team’s failure in World Cup.

Kamran Akmal said that his younger brother had paid the price for shuffling up and down the batting order, adding that the young batsman could not play his natural game due to switch in batting places.

The test cricketer said that Umar Akmal was not a wicket-keeper by trade but due to constraint of playing an extra bowler in the team, he had donned the gloves for the sake of team which had adversely affected his batting performance. The specialist wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Ahmad, he said, should have been in the playing eleven.

Kamran Akmal said that his brother Umar Akmal is fit to serve the national team for the next 15-20 years and should be groomed to become an asset for the team.

It should mentioned here that Umar Akmal scored 164 runs in 7 matches in World Cup and after which he was dropped for team’s tour of Bangladesh.
