CM writes to PM Singh expressing concerns over Sri Lankan cricketers playing Indian Premier League.

NEW DELHI (AP) - Sri Lankan players may not figure in all matches of the Indian Premier League after the chief minister of the southern state of Tamil Nadu wrote to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying they would not be allowed to play in the province.

Jayaram Jayalalithaa wrote that the people in her state were disturbed by alleged human rights violations and the systematic killing of people of Tamil ethnicity in Sri Lanka, and that if the Sri Lankans played in the state, it would "aggravate an already surcharged atmosphere."

Chennai Super Kings, who include Sri Lanka players Nuwan Kulasekara and Akila Dananjaya, are due to play 10 games in the state capital Chennai during the tournament starting on April 3.

Jayalalithaa last month refused to host the Asian Athletics Championships in July as it would feature Sri Lankans.
