ADELAIDE: Sri Lanka won the first T20 international against Australia by five wickets on Saturday.

After Australia scored 137-3 in their 20 overs, Sri Lanka replied with 139-5 in 18.5 overs.

David Warner had earlier put Australia in a good position with a brilliant knock of 90 not out.

However, the Sri Lankan batsmen were always in control of the run chase and they reached the target when Thisara Perera blasted Ben Laughlin for two consecutive sixes.

The two teams will meet again in the second and final match in Melbourne on Monday.
