Saeed Ajmal named in ICC Test Team of Year

Saeed Ajmal has been picked up in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Team of Year.

This year’s ICC Test team has been dominated by the South African players, with five Proteas players, including 12th man AB de Villiers, making world’s best squad. Three English players, Alastair Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad, also make a cut into the XI. Not a single Indian made it to the squad which also includes Shivnarine Chanderpaul (West Indies) and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka).The selectors did utilise a vast amount of statistics from the period under observation, but we also took into account all other factors like the opposition, pitch conditions, match situation etc, said selection panel chief Clive Lloyd in an ICC statement.In the panels expert opinion, it has selected the best team based on performances over the past 12 months, he added further.ICC Test Team of the Year 2011-12: Alastair Cook, Hashim Amla, Kumar Sangakkara, Jacques Kallis, Michael Clarke (capt), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Matt Prior (wk), Stuart Broad, Saeed Ajmal, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, AB de Villiers (12th man)
