LAHORE (APP) - The Pakistan Railways on Wednesday commenced operations at its newly upgraded Reservation Office at the Headquarters, aiming to provide passengers with improved, comfortable, and modern facilities.
The initiative is part of efforts to enhance the efficiency of the ticketing system and ensure better service delivery to the public. Under the upgradation project, the Reservation Office has been completely renovated and equipped with a modern and elegant interior.
A total of 15 well-organized ticketing counters have been established to facilitate passengers, including separate counters for ladies, gents, and senior citizens. A dedicated information desk has also been set up to guide and assist visitors. The office is now fully air-conditioned and offers seating capacity for up to 30 persons.
To streamline operations, a Qmatic (token) system—commonly used in banks and multinational organizations—has been installed to ensure organized and timely service.
Additional facilities include separate washrooms for men and women with modern sanitary arrangements, installation of a security camera system, and provision of free Wi-Fi for passengers. New, high-quality furniture has also been provided for staff and visitors.
In line with modern technological trends, two self-ticketing machines similar to those at airports have been installed, enabling passengers to conveniently purchase tickets on their own.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi will formally inaugurate the upgraded Reservation Office in the coming days.
The initiative is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and speed in the ticketing system while enhancing overall passenger experience.
