Sources in the Ministry of Petroleum said that various proposals are being considered to eliminate circular debt
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - After electricity, the circular debt of petroleum sector has also surged.
The circular debt of the petroleum sector has reached Rs3,400billion. The circular debt also includes interest and late payment surcharge. Rs1,500 billion is interest and Rs 1,831 billion is principal amount. The interest amount is also continuously increasing.
According to officials, there has been no increase in the stock of circular debt since June 2024, but the interest amount is continuously increasing.
Sources in the Ministry of Petroleum said that various proposals are being considered to eliminate circular debt.
A plan to eliminate circular debt on the lines of the Power Division is also being considered.
