LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has reported strong interest from entrepreneurs in its SME Certification & International Accreditation Grant Programme, aimed at enhancing global competitiveness and export potential.

Under the initiative, SMEDA offers a 70% matching grant, covering certification costs up to Rs800,000 and consultancy expenses up to Rs200,000, while SMEs contribute the remaining 30%. The programme seeks to reduce financial and technical barriers that prevent small businesses from obtaining internationally recognized certifications.

Launched under the Ministry of Industries and Production, the project forms part of the government’s broader strategy to formalize SMEs, improve governance and expand market access.

Officials say the authority aims to support over 100 SMEs during the current fiscal year.

Significant interest was observed at the ‘Made in Pakistan - SME Cluster Showcase Expo 2026,’ with applications and approvals already underway. The selection process is merit-based and conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

SMEDA is also prioritizing start-ups, women-led enterprises and businesses in underserved regions, offering awareness sessions and digital outreach to simplify the application process.
