ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is taking practical steps for export-led economic growth of the country.
He was chairing a meeting of the working group on tax sector reforms in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The prime minister said that the government values taxpaying businessmen and companies.
He said that the government aims at promoting businesses and making them more competitive through long-term measures.
The prime minister constituted a committee to be chaired by finance minister for preparing an action plan based on proposals of private sector for economic development.
During the meeting, a comparative analysis of tax rates in different sectors, including the corporate sector was presented.

The meeting also discussed proposals for tax reforms, exports promotion and measures to boost investment in the country.
The business leaders and investors, who attended the meeting, thanked the prime minister for abolishing the Export Development Surcharge.
The meeting was also attended by federal ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Mohammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiani and Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar.
