Chief Secretary, and Finance Secretary keeping an eye on progress through the dashboard
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken another big step towards digital governance by giving the green light to the launch of the Ehsaas E-Pension System, bringing good news for government employees.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the system, which will come into force from January 1, 2026. The CM Secretariat has already prepared the concept paper, while the finance department has been directed to put things into action.
From January 2026, new pensioners will receive payments through the paperless E-Pension System instead of the existing paper-based system. A dedicated Ehsaas Pension Dashboard willbe launched, working as a fully digital, web-based platform.
Under the new system, employees will be able to file their pension cases six months before retirement by filling out a simple online form. Required documents can be safely scanned and uploaded directly to the portal. The system will then automatically create time-bound tasks for relevant officials.
Not a single physical file or paper will be used at any stage. Verification and approval will also be completed digitally, while the system itself will generate sanction orders, retirement orders, pension papers, and pension payment orders — all digitally signed and legally valid.
Performance monitoring will be built into the system, with the CM, Chief Secretary, and Finance Secretary keeping an eye on progress through the dashboard.
The paperless system will be linked with NADRA, the Accountant General’s office, and banks, ensuring pension amounts are transferred straight into retirees’ bank accounts within the set timeline.
To make the system long-lasting, necessary legal amendments have been suggested. A roadmap with 10 clear targets and deadlines has been drawn up, aiming for the formal inauguration of the system by January 15, 2026. Once in place, the pension processing time will shrink from several months to just 2 to 4 weeks.
Chief Minister Gandapur said the new online system will save pensioners from running from pillar to post, adding that it will remove existing hurdles, ensure transparency, and promote accountability.
He further stated that, in line with Imran Khan’s vision, the provincial government is turning KP into a truly digital province. With the launch of the E-Pension System, KP will become the first province in Pakistan to roll out such a facility. So far, 36 different public services have already been digitised, with work under way to bring more services online.
