Crackdown on gas pilferage intensified with 229 connections severed

(Web Desk) - Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) disconnected another 229 gas connections in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad during the ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers while booking Rs7.3 million on account of gas theft.

In a major raid, SNGPL’s regional team uncovered four illegal gas networks in Sialkot.

Likewise, in Rawalpindi, the regional team disconnected nine gas connections while, in Mardan, the team disconnected 13 gas connections for illegal use with fine of Rs240,000 on gas theft.

In Sialkot, the company disconnected 10 connections and four illegal gas networks and regional team also booked Rs1.2 million on gas theft.

Meanwhile, in Sargodha, seven gas connections were disconnected on illegal use while another one connection was disconnected on account of meter tampering.
And the team disconnected 13 connections in Gujranwala on illegal use of gas while booking an amount of Rs250,000 on gas theft.

In Gujrat, SNGPL disconnected nine connections on illegal use of gas while another two on use of compresso while 8 connections were disconnected for using fake meter.

In Sahiwal, seven meters were disconnected on illegal extensions and meter tampering while more than Rs20,000 were booked on account of gas theft with the regional team in Faisalabad disconnected 29 connections for gas theft with the team also booked Rs10,000 against gas theft.

In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 26 connections on meter tampering, 12 on illegal use of gas for commercial purposes and one for use compressor with team also booking Rs.4.9 million on gas theft.

Similarly, in Bahwalpur, the regional team disconnected 25 connections on use of compressor while another seven on gas theft and the company disconnected 33 connections on illegal use of gas while booking Rs40,000 on gas theft in Multan. In Sheikhupura, one connection was disconnected on direct bypass.

The head office based UFG Task Force also raided different places in Peshawar and other places, and unearthed gas theft from service line which was used to provide illegal gas to 13 households. The team disconnected the network and initiated legal action against those involved in the act.

In Peshawar, the company disconnected 38 connections on account of direct use of gas and illegal connections while booking more than 0.5 million rupees on account of gas theft.
