Petroleum ministry denies gas subsidy for exports sector

The gas subsidies for export sector have been halted for Apr 2023

 ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ministry of Petroleum has denied continuing gas subsidies for the exports sector in a letter written to Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) on Wednesday.

The Petroleum ministry has written a letter to SNGPL advising to discontinue the gas subsidies and provide gas based on tariff set by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

According to the petroleum ministry the gas subsidies for export sector have been halted for Apr 2023.

It was revealed through reports that the SNGPL asked for Rs4 trillion subsidy for five export industries.

On the other hand, amid the wave of high petrol prices the petrol consumption in the country declined by 24%, whereas the diesel consumption plunged by 50% on annual basis.
