Chief Economist Dr Zubair resigns from post

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Dr Muhammad Ahmed Zubair on Wednesday has resigned from his post as the Chief Economist of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, Dunya News reported.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Planning and Development stated that Dr Zubair resigned for personal reasons and has given a one-month notice as per the terms of his contract with the government.

Following the resignation of Dr Zubair, taking a dig at the current government, Asad Umar said that Dr Zubair was being pressured to reduce the economic growth rate from 5.5 per cent to 4 per cent.

Taking to Twitter, former Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin wrote that “Why do we try to damage the institutions? The facts cannot be suppressed.”
