Eid shopping has failed to gain momentum in the markets of the federal capital due to rising prices.
A dull and slow Eid shopping trend is witnessed at the major markets of the city despite that first half of Ramazan has passed. Shopkeepers are seen sitting idle waiting for prospect buyers.Several shoppers said that due to high inflation and the high rates of items things are beyond their purchasing power and they are just compelled to window shop.Shoes that were once sold at RS 500 to RS 800 have now reached at more than Rs 1000. Now a decent shoe costs more than RS 1500, which is too much”, quipped a house wife. The rates of Children clothing and shoes have reached sky high ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 5000.Shop keepers were also of the view that the shopping trend this year is at its lowest. Most of the shoppers just come look around asks for prices and than just leave, said a shopkeeper in Super market.
