FM urges to adopt forward planning while dealing with volatile energy prices in int'l markets

Finance Minister also emphasized the importance of risk hedging to dampen effect of global prices

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin has urged the concerned departments to adopt forward planning while dealing with the volatile energy prices in international markets.

He was talking to Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Power and Petroleum Tabish Gauhar in Islamabad.

The Finance Minister also emphasized the importance of risk hedging to dampen the impact of recent fluctuations in global prices of crude oil and petroleum products particularly due to supply side disruptions amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Energy briefed about growing demand for energy, installed generation capacity, transmission capability and also outlined steps being taken for improving transmission and distribution systems for reducing costs and ensuring sustainability.
